Information about centz accounts, cards, and services

centz is a digital banking service that provides the following services to its customers:

  • an online bank account
  • Visa debit cards
  • sending money (ACH and wire transfers)
  • ATM cash withdrawals
  • check deposit
  • paycheck direct deposit (up to 2 days early)

centz accounts are held at Evolve Bank & Trust, and centz is powered by the fintech platform of Solid Financial Technologies.

We're so excited that you're ready to get started with us! Let's begin by signing up.

  1. Start by entering your mobile phone number. Instead of passwords, we use authentication codes for logins, so the phone number you use must be able to receive text messages.
  2. Next you will receive a text message with an authentication code. Enter that into the app.
  3. Once your phone has been verified, we need to collect the following information from you:
    • First &last name
    • Email/Phone
    • Date of birth
    • Social Security Number (for identity verification)
    • Mailing address (so we know where to send your Visa debit card)

That's it! We'll review the information you provided, and in most cases, we can make a decision on your account within minutes. If you're approved, you'll just need to accept the terms of service, and then you can create your centz account.

You will have the option of ordering a physical card, but you can choose to skip it and just get the virtual card if you wish.

How getting paid early works

When you switch your paycheck to direct deposit into your centz account, you are eligible to receive your wages up to 2 days early. Instead of waiting 2 extra days to deliver your paycheck funds to you (like most banks do), we deposit those funds into your centz account as soon as they are transferred.

Early access to direct deposit funds depends on the timing of the submission of the payment file from the payor. We generally make these funds available on the day the payment file is received, which may be up to 2 days earlier than the scheduled payment date.

Plaid is a networking tool that lets you easily make secure connections between your online banking services. You can connect your other bank accounts to your centz account using your logins at those banks via Plaid's service. It's a widely used tool that's safe and secure, not to mention very convenient. Persona is an identity verification tool that helps centz to make sure your personal information is not being used by someone else pretending to be you. We sometimes use the Persona verification tool as an added layer of security during the centz account approval process to confirm your identity and keep you safe from fraud.
